This is Weatherby Brindle Sun (AKA Gunny), the inspiration and perspiration for GunnySaks. At five weeks old an infection presumably starting at the umbilical cord moved into his kidneys. Weak and near death he displayed an amazing will to live. Surgery was not a guarantee of survival and would be expensive with a lengthy recovery and constant attention needed. With the excellent skill and natural talent of his DVM Sheri along with his will to live surgery and recovery
were successful.
However, scar tissue in the urinary track caused a little dribble when he would get up from napping or laying down. Unfortunately, he was confined to laying on towels or staying outside away from his people and the other dogs. This just couldn't be. Thus through trail and error, design and modification GunnySaks came into being. This meant indoor freedom for him and a stylish way to effectively deal with a persistent problem. From the photo shown you can see he grew into a handsome dog. Very smart, very sweet, very good, and he provided much enjoyment. There won't ever be another Weatherby but his will and memory live on partly thru GunnySaks. Since the first GunnySaks was made many dogs and their people have been helped. Other dog people in search of really great fitting, cool looking K9 fashion (GunnySaks without absorbent fabric) have enjoyed dressing their pup up with style.
